A late Diego Guastavino winner has sent Universitario top of the Peru Primera Division, while Real Garcilaso were beaten.
Universitario are a point clear at the top after their 2-1 win at Juan Aurich, a victory which came in dramatic fashion at Estadio Municipal Francisco Mendoza Pizarro.
Guillermo Tomasevich opened the scoring for the visitors on 39 minutes, neatly finishing into the bottom corner after being played through.
Juan Aurich equalised five minutes later through Roberto Ovelar, but Jose Carvallo should have done better to keep the side-footed effort out.
Neither team was able to find a breakthrough until the first minute of additional time, when Guastavino – on the counter-attack – netted in a one-on-one.
Real Garcilaso, who have played two fewer games than the league leaders, were beaten 1-0 by Leon de Huanuco.
Pedro Ascoy poked in the only goal of the game in the 14th minute in Huanuco.
Alianza Lima moved up to third with a 1-0 win at home to Sporting Cristal, who finished the encounter with 10 men.
Walter Ibanez netted the only goal in the 71st minute, with Jorge Cazulo picking up a second yellow card late in the encounter.
In other matches, Universidad San Martin held Cesar Vallejo to a 0-0 draw and Julio Landauri's brace saw Inti Gas to a 2-1 win at home to Melgar.
UTC Cajamarca and Pacifico played out a 1-1 draw and Union Comercio were 2-0 winners at Cienciano.
Sport Huancayo crushed Jose Galvez 4-1 at home, with the visitors reduced to 10 men in the 20th minute when Nicolas Pereira was sent off.
