Baldini appointed as Tottenham technical director
Tottenham have announced that Franco Baldini has joined the club as technical director
Baldini, who was a member of Fabio Capello's backroom team during his spell as England manager, joins the Premier League outfit following his departure from the role of general director at Roma.
The Italian will now work with manager Andre Villas-Boas as Spurs aim to improve on their fifth-placed finish last season.
Spurs chairman Daniel Levy was quick to praise Baldini's abilities and stressed that his presence at White Hart Lane would help the club develop.

Neill, Schwarzer in the shop window
They are two of the biggest names in Australian football - and 12 months out from a World Cup, they have no home.
Veteran goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer and captain Lucas Neill are both on the lookout for new clubs after being cut adrift before Australia sealed qualification for Brazil 2014.
Schwarzer has been released from English Premier League outfit Fulham after the London club signed Dutchman Maarten Stekelenburg on a four-year deal, while Neill has not played since finishing a short-term stint with Sydney FC in the second half of the 2012/13 A-League season.
But now, with the Socceroos heading to South America next year, the duo's search for new clubs will be upped.

Confederations Cup: Nigeria v Uruguay
Dynamo Kiev striker Brown Ideye may start for Nigeria against Uruguay after his team-mates struggled to convert chances against Tahiti.
While Nigeria thumped the French Polynesians 6-1 in the FIFA Confederations Cup on Monday, their head coach Stephen Keshi looked less than impressed after watching his side waste a number of goal-scoring opportunities in Belo Horizonte.
Of the three forwards Keshi selected against Tahiti, only Nnamdi Oduamadi hit the back of the net, with the 22-year-old AC Milan winger, who spent last season on loan at Serie B club Varese, striking a hat-trick.

Brazil-Mexico : Selecao gunning for semi-final berth
Luiz Felipe Scolari is spoilt for choice ahead of Brazil’s second Confederations Cup game against Mexico at the Castelao. With the Selecao in fine form during their comprehensive 3-0 victory in Group A’s opener against Japan, and star player Neymar expected to shake off a minor knock picked up in the game, the 64-year-old’s main concern is deciding if to change a winning formula. Atletico Miniero striker Jo, who scored as a second-half substitute against Japan, could start, with Hulk or Fred the most likely to miss out – though Lucas Moura may find it harder to displace Paulinho and Oscar in midfield. But while Brazil could clinch a semi-final berth with victory, Mexico face a win or bust scenario, as such a resu

Rebelo: Protests will not harm Confederations Cup
Brazil's sports minister Aldo Rebelo has stated that the FIFA Confederations Cup and FIFA World Cup will be secure events despite protests.
The Confederations Cup, which is seen as the warm-up to next year's World Cup, has been overshadowed by anger at the country's expenditure on hosting the two events. A number of demonstrations have taken place in recent days, with violent scenes outside the Maracana Stadium in Rio de Janeiro and in the capital Brasilia keeping the Confederations Cup in the headlines for all the wrong reasons.
But despite the furore Rebelo was keen to stress that the security of the two tournaments will not be jeopardised.
"Those demonstrations are not being organised by the poorest," he said.
