Scolari details Brazil´s struggles

confederations cup
Brazil head coach Luis Felipe Scolari has conceded his team was 'lost for almost 20 minutes' during their 2-0 win over Mexico.

While the final score at the Estadio Governador Placido Aderaldo Castelo may have suggested Brazil cruised in their FIFA Confederations Cup clash with Mexico, Scolari made it clear his team lost focus during Wednesday's game.

Jo, who scored the clinching goal in second-half stoppage time, said Brazil were complacent against Mexico, while Scolari believes his team showed a 'lack of attention' after Neymar opened the scoring in the ninth minute.

"We had some difficulties during this match," Scolari said.

"We had it under control but suddenly they took it from us and we got were lost for almost 20 minutes.

"There was lack of attention at some point and now we have to fix that."

Brazil eventually got their second goal when Neymar produced a brilliant run to set-up Jo in second-half stoppage time, clinching a spot in the semi-finals of the Confederations Cup.

With Jo having come off the bench to score for the second match in succession, Scolari said the Atletico Mineiro striker was putting pressure on Fluminense's Fred for a position in the starting line-up.

"It's a good problem," Scolari said.

"Now I have a puzzle to solve, try and find the best players for the starting list."

Jo said after the game Brazil had expected an easier contest against Mexico, although he maintained Scolari's team were aware of the Mexicans' potential to pose them problems.

"It was a tough match," Jo said.

"At the beginning we thought it will be easier than actually was.

"But we knew that Mexico have great players who control the ball well."
