Tottenham have announced that Franco Baldini has joined the club as technical director
Baldini, who was a member of Fabio Capello's backroom team during his spell as England manager, joins the Premier League outfit following his departure from the role of general director at Roma.
The Italian will now work with manager Andre Villas-Boas as Spurs aim to improve on their fifth-placed finish last season.
Spurs chairman Daniel Levy was quick to praise Baldini's abilities and stressed that his presence at White Hart Lane would help the club develop.
"Franco is extremely well respected in the industry, possessing an extensive knowledge of players around the world," Levy said in a statement on the club's official website.
"He will strengthen our football management team, particularly in the field of recruitment, working closely with Andre Villas-Boas and Tim Sherwood across all levels on the playing side."
Baldini enjoyed a long playing career in Italy, spending spells at Bari and Pescara among others before taking over as director of football at Roma.
He resigned in 2005, before linking up with Capello at Real Madrid.
Baldini followed Capello to England in 2007 but severed his ties with the national team following their qualification for UEFA Euro 2012 to rejoin Roma.
