Jose Mourinho wants to keep Kevin De Bruyne at Chelsea next season, according to Bayer Leverkusen general manager Michael Reschke.
The Bundesliga club have been strongly linked with a loan move for the Belgium international, along with domestic rivals Borussia Dortmund.
It has also been claimed De Bruyne could be used as a makeweight in the deal that is likely to see Leverkusen star Andre Schurrle move to Stamford Bridge ahead of next season.
However, Reschke has quashed rumours of a move for the playmaker, who is set to be given a chance to shine in the English top flight, 18 months after being signed by the London club from Genk.
"At a meeting on Wednesday in Leipzig, Chelsea and Jose Mourinho made it clear that Kevin returns to Chelsea," Reschke is quoted by Bild.
"It was not possible to connect it with the Andre Schurrle transfer."
De Bruyne scored 10 goals, and assisted another 10, in a season-long loan at Werder Bremen last term.
Mourinho will begin his second spell as manager of the London club after three years at Real Madrid, in which he guided the club to one Liga title.
