Bundesliga: Bayern Munich - Freiburg

bundesligaBayern Munich will aim to break the all-time Bundesliga points record when they welcome Freiburg to the Allianz Arena.
Jupp Heynckes' men have been in sparkling form this season, and will be in confident mood after their emphatic 4-0 UEFA Champions League win over Barcelona on Tuesday.

Bayern clinched the quickest-ever Bundesliga triumph earlier this month with a 1-0 win over Eintracht Frankfurt, and head into this one knowing a point will see their name written into the record books.

However, they may have to do it without leading marksman Mario Mandzukic, who remains a doubt after missing the win over Wolfsburg last weekend. The Bavarians are likely to be without midfielder Toni Kroos and centre-back Holger Badstuber who are both still injured.

Dealing with absences has not been a problem for Bayern, who romped past Wolfsburg despite the loss of Mandzukic with Mario Gomez netting a hat-trick but, although the hosts were deadly in front of goal against Barcelona, they must avoid complacency against a Freiburg side with lofty ambitions.

Christian Streich's troops have surprised many by putting themselves in contention for a place in next season's UEFA Champions League, and although many of their star players are expected to leave the Mage Solar Stadion in the off-season, Freiburg could yet secure a fairy-tale end to the season.

To do that they will need top scorer Max Kruse and midfielder Jonathan Schmid to continue their impressive form. Striker Marco Terrazzino and Sebastian Freis are the only injury concerns for Streich, but even so it is likely to be a tough afternoon for Freiburg against a rampant Bayern outfit.
