The London club sit 10th in the top flight, two points clear of 11th-placed Fulham, with four games remaining this season.
And O'Brien has described that as a "fantastic achievement" for a squad which only achieved promotion last term.
"At the start of the season a top-10 finish was always the target," he told the club's official website.
"There wasn't any talk of relegation when we set out in pre-season and look at us now, we're right on track to finish in the top half of the table.

It is a privilege to see El Shaarawy linked with Napoli, says agent
el shaarawyStephan El Shaarawy's agent has described reports linking the AC Milan forward with a move to Napoli as an honour for the player.

The 20-year-old has been one of the success stories of the club's season, but his form since January has been the subject of much concern, with coach Massmiliano Allegri stating earlier this month that the player is mentally and physically drained.
However, that has not halted speculation linking the Italy international with a move away from San Siro, and Roberto La Florio says the player is honoured to have caught the eye of Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis.
"This is a true privilege, also because we are talking about a president at the he ... Read more »

Atmosphere won´t intimidate us against Fenerbahce
fenerbahce
Benfica coach Jorge Jesus does not feel that an intimidating atmosphere will harm his players when they take on Fenerbahce at the Sukru Saracoglu Stadium on Thursday.
The 58-year-old feels that the experience of his side playing at home in a rowdy Estadio de Luz will help them and feels the tie is more likely to be decided by how well his defence deals with Fenerbahce's front line, which includes the likes of Dirk Kuyt, Moussa Sow and Miroslav Stoch.

"Most problems will probably come from their agile front players," Jesus told reporters. "We know that this match will not decide anything but it can help us."

He also stressed th ... Read more »
