Pardew rues Krul´s season-ending injury
Newcastle keeper Tim Krul will miss the rest of the season after dislocating his shoulder in Sunday's 3-0 drubbing by Sunderland.
Krul landed awkwardly after punching the ball clear during the match, and was swiftly replaced by Rob Elliot on 57 minutes before being taken to hospital for assessment.
The Dutchman's injury comes as an additional bitter pill to swallow for Newcastle manager Alan Pardew, who believes his side failed to recover from Thursday's 1-1 Europa League draw with Benfica that saw the Magpies crash out 4-2 on aggregate.
Pardew told reporters: "I don't feel particularly great. It

Santana unsure of Dortmund future
Borussia Dortmund centre-back Felipe Santana has said he might leave the club in search of regular first-team football.
The Brazilian is firmly behind Mats Hummels and Neven Subotic in the pecking order at the Westfalenstadion and with the 2014 World Cup approaching, he wants to boost his chances of an international call-up.
"I am not sure myself about what will happen in the summer," he told Bild.
"It's hard to deal with that fact that I only play when Mats or Neven are injured, and it's my dream to play for Brazil in the World Cup on home soil.

Scottish football alive and well
Celtic manager Neil Lennon has hit out at critics of Scottish football after his side's thrilling 4-3 win over Dundee United in the Scottish Cup.
Both cup semi-finals finished with 4-3 scorelines after extra-time, with Hibs coming from 3-0 down to defeat Falkirk on Saturday.
Celtic, meanwhile, needed an extra-time goal from Anthony Stokes to seal their place in the final, after Dundee United twice came from behind to force extra time on Sunday.
Lennon was pleased not only with the victory, but also with the quality on display, and he took a swipe at those critical of football in Scotland.

FA Cup: Chelsea 1:2 Manchester City
Manchester City defeated a jaded Chelsea to clinch a 2-1 FA Cup semi-final win and book their second final appearance in three years.
Goals from Samir Nasri and Sergio Aguero put City two goals up after 47 minutes but Demba Ba's hooked volley midway through the second period guaranteed a riveting finale.
City held firm to end Chelsea's notable run of seven consecutive FA Cup Wembley wins, including final triumphs in four of the six previous seasons.
Roberto Mancini's team will be the strong favourites to lift their second cup in three years when they face Wigan Athletic here again in the final on May 11.
It was all City early on as the 2011 winners carried o

Van Persie relieved to end goal drought
Manchester United striker Robin van Persie says he was relieved to end a 10-game goalless run in his club's 2-0 win over Stoke on Sunday.
The Netherlands forward tucked home a second-half penalty after he was felled by Andy Wilkinson to wrap up all three points for the league leaders and bring to an end a dry spell stretching back to United's 2-0 win over Everton in mid-February.
"Everybody could see that I was quite relieved and happy," he told the BBC after the match.
"It was all about the win but I like to score goals."

Bayern Munich centre-back Dante has labelled Barcelona and Lionel Messi as the best team and player in the world respectively.
The German champions face Barca in the Champions League semi-finals later this month and the former Borussia Moenchengladbach man is aware of how difficult the task will be.
"Of course it will not be easy," Dante told Lance. "We know that Barcelona are the best team in the world, with a very modern game system and a touch of the ball that has no comparison.

Premier League: Stoke 0:2 Manchester United
Manchester United moved a step closer to regaining the Premier League title with a 2-0 win at lowly Stoke on Sunday.
An early goal from Michael Carrick and a second-half Robin van Persie penalty wrapped up all three points for Sir Alex Ferguson's men, but they were rarely troubled by a disappointing Stoke who are now more deeply embroiled in the relegation fight to stay in England's top flight.
It took just four minutes for the champions-elect to take the lead, as the Potters failed miserably to clear a van Persie corner.
After several hacks at the ball by the home defenders, it eventually fell to Carrick, who toe-poked into the corner of the net from the edge of the six-

Inter primed for Cagliari, says Stramaccioni
Andrea Stramaccioni says Inter have put last week's controversial defeat to Atalanta behind them ahead of Cagliari on Sunday.
The Milanese giants crumbled to a 4-3 reverse at the hands of Atalanta, but the result was promptly followed by an angry post-match outburst from their coach who felt that a 'non-existent' penalty inspired their opponents' comeback.
But when asked about the refereeing appointment of Domenico Celi for the trip to Trieste, Stramaccioni made it clear that his players were no longer dwelling on the past and had no concerns about their attitude towards the official.

Allardyce delighted with Carroll form
West Ham manager Sam Allardyce said he always felt Andy Carroll would find form after the on-loan forward scored his fifth goal in seven games.
