Benitez keen to challenge for Champions League with next club

Outgoing Chelsea interim manager Rafa Benitez wants his next side to be in the UEFA Champions League.
Speaking after Chelsea lost 5-3 to Manchester City in an end-of-season friendly in New York, Benitez confirmed he wants to challenge for Europe's top club competition.

The former Liverpool manager has tasted continental success this season already having guided his side to UEFA Europa League glory, but he told Sky Sports News he wants to go one better with whoever he takes charge of next.

"I am going to London now," he said.
"I want to be in a top side so that we can play in the Champions League, if that is possible."

Benitez has not enjoyed the warmest of welcomes during his time at Chelsea, despite winning the Europa League and qualifying for the Champions League next season, but feels his time at Stamford Bridge has been successful.

"I think it was a good challenge and I enjoyed it at the end," said Benitez, who has been linked with the vacant managerial role at Napoli.

"We won a trophy, (we reached) some semi-finals, a final (and finished in the) top three so I am really pleased because a lot of people at the start, people around players, they were pushing and pushing," he continued.

"I am really pleased for everyone."
