Roma condemn racist fans

serie aRoma have released a statement condemning racism after their fans were alleged to have abused Milan striker Mario Balotelli on Sunday.
Roma's travelling supporters were reportedly singing racist chants at Balotelli during the goalless Serie A draw between the two sides at San Siro.

The ground announcer warned the crowd to stop the abuse in the first half, or the game would be suspended, and at least temporarily, referee Gianluca Rocchi followed through on the warning in the second period.

The match was briefly halted before resuming again as neither side could find a winner in a result that leaves Milan in danger of missing out on a UEFA Champions League place next season, a fear that will become a reality if they lose at Siena and Fiorentina beat Pescara on Sunday.

Roma reacted on Monday, posting a statement on their official website that read: "AS Roma condemns any form of racial abuse.

"This type of behaviour from any football supporters, including ours, is completely unacceptable.

"We are committed to facing this issue head on to rid our sport of this problem and promote respect for all."
