Dortmund lucky to get away with ´black eye´

bundesliga
Juergen Klopp has admitted his side escaped with from their encounter with Wolfsburg on Saturday "with a black eye".

A lacklustre first-half performance from Dortmund saw them go 3-1 down in the first half, thanks to a goal from Naldo and an Ivan Peresic brace.

Dortmund struggled to assert themselves on the game, but salvaged a point when Marco Reus struck twice in quick succession during the last few minutes.

The draw saw Dortmund confirm a second-place finish in the league, but Klopp admitted that his side were lucky not to have lost the game.

He told reporters after the game: "My team have done many things of late, but unfortunately we missed the chance to zip the bag. We got away with a black eye.

"We started very well, then diminished at an equal rate. We soon fell behind by a clear margin and began to look vulnerable.

"We caused ourselves problems which could have been avoided if we played better football, and I saw a lot of negative things that we shouldn't have done."

Despite the disappointing first half performance, Klopp will have been boosted by the news that Mario Goetze could return to training next week.

Goetze, who will join Bayern Munich at the end of the season, picked up a hamstring injury in the 2-0 defeat to Real Madrid, but could still feature in the final against his future club at in the UEFA Champions League final at Wembley on May 25.
