Callum McManaman believes Wigan deserved their shock 1-0 win over Manchester City in the FA Cup final on Saturday.
A late header from Ben Watson was enough to see of Roberto Mancini's side and secure one of the greatest cup final surprises in history.
Speaking after his man-of-the-match performance, McManaman told BBC Five Live: "I'm made up. I had a feeling this morning that it was our day. The longer it went on, we had the better chances. Before the game the gaffer said 'treat it like a normal game, don't be afraid'. I still can't believe it.
"This is the best feeling. We deserved this, and we're off to celebrate it now."
The celebrations are unlikely to last for long though, as Wigan now have to focus on securing Premier League survival, starting with a trip to Arsenal on Tuesday.
But defender Gary Caldwell maintained that it was still a historic day for the club.
He told BBC Five Live: "It's a fantastic achievement for a club like ours. This is incredible. The whole of Wigan are here today. I'm so proud - I thought we were unbelievable today.
"Hopefully this gives us a great boost going into next week. We've still got two big games to come. If we play the way we played today on Tuesday and next Sunday I've no doubt we'll still be in the Premier League next season."
