Champions League not an obsession for Real

champions league
Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos is dreaming of Champions League glory, but has warned his team-mates it must not become an obsession.
The Santiago Bernabeu side last won the competition in 2001/02, but have since been unable to go all the way as they only made it to the semi-finals on their past two attempts.

Ramos is hopeful they can go one step further this season with the right attitude.

"I hope that we can win the Champions League. We have been fighting for this trophy for many years with the hope of winning it," the defender told AS.

"But I also think that we should not obsess over it, because when you become obsessed with something, things can go wrong.

"But we need to maintain our level of excitement, strength and faith, that's vital.

"If we are to win it we'll need to keep doing things the same as we have been doing in Europe this season."

Ramos discussed the upcoming quarter-final tie against Galatasaray and said the Turkish champions will not be pushovers.

"Some fans are happy with the draw because they think they are easier than other teams, but that's not true at all," he said.

"Galatasaray have players who could play for, and in fact have played for, Real Madrid and other great European sides. So we have total respect for our opponents."

The first leg takes place at the Santiago Bernabeu on April 3.
