FA charge Newcastle assistant Carver
Newcastle United assistant manager John Carver has been charged by the Football Association with misconduct.
The charge relates to his involvement in a half-time incident in the Premier League fixture against Wigan Athletic on Sunday.
Carver has until 4pm on March 22 to respond to the FA charge.
The 48-year-old was seen aggressively approaching Wigan player Callum and had to be restrained by other staff and players.
Carver then turned on Wigan coach Graham Barrow and the pair had a heated exchange before stewards and police had to step in as Carver pursued Barrow down the tunnel.
The disagreement stemmed from McManaman's tackle on defender Massadio Haidara which saw Haidara forced to leave the field due to injury.
At the time Newcastle were not even awarded a free kick and after seeing a replay Alan Pardew and his coaching staff were outraged.
Carver has previous when it comes to bust-ups on the football field.
During his fist spell at Newcastle as a coach in 2002 he was involved in a row with Robert Pires after the Frenchman was upset with a tackle on him late in an FA Cup quarter final game.
