Newcastle midfielder Ryan Taylor has slammed Wigan youngster Callum McManaman for his challenge on Massadio Haidara.
The furore over McManaman's horror challenge on Newcastle left-back Haidara in Wigan's 2-1 Premier League win on Sunday has continued, with Taylor taking to Twitter to voice his concerns.
The 21-year-old McManaman was making his full league debut for the Latics but sparked controversy and a half-time brawl with his tackle on Haidara, himself a substitute for the injured Mathieu Debuchy.
The incident did not escape the attention of Taylor - a former Wigan player - who criticised McManaman on his personal Twitter site.
"Wow. Not even a yellow #baffled," said the 28-year-old, who is currently missing due to a long-term knee problem.
"Nothing to do with the scoreline an (sic) the fact it was a red but as a footballer it's the definition of a 's***house tackle'. I hope Sadio (Haidara) is ok."
Taylor also criticised the match officials, though referee Mark Halsay said he did not have a clear view of the incident in the aftermath of the match, which saw Wigan steal victory thanks to a late strike from Arouna Kone.
"In them few minutes after the tackle why can't the ref or the 4th official look at a video for 5 seconds and help the ref out. #Sortitout," Taylor added.
Wigan failed to escape the drop zone with their win, though it does bring them back to within three points of Aston Villa, and safety, with a game in hand.
