VfL Wolfsburg
Wolfsburg is still in the phase of large oscillations and their results are very difficult to predict. The previous two rounds are the best example, because they lost at home to Schalke 4-1 two rounds ago, just to win in the last one in Freiburg with even 5-2. However, what can be said with certainty is that Wolfsburg plays much better away games in this season. They are not the only team that has won more points away but that difference is the biggest with Wolves, because they won away twice as many points as in Wolfsburg. It’s certainly not encouraging information on the eve of the match, or that they won in front of their fans just twice and scored only ten goals. The injuries of the midfielder Perisic and stopper Naldo are not encouraging, nor that has the best player of the team Brazilian Diego earned the fifth yellow card in Freiburg. Otherwise, the coach Hecking have made a number of changes in the team after a heavy defeat from Schalke, and Fagner returned on the right flank, Rodriguez on the left flank, Kyrgiakos on the stopper position, Trasch on the defensive midfielder, and Perisic had replaced Dost. Now Dost will return for sure in the starting lineup because of Perisic’s injury, and Orozco could play instead of Diego. What is definitely encouraging is an excellent form of the striker Olic, who scored three goals in the last two rounds.
Probable lineups VfL Wolfsburg: Benaglio – Fagner, Kyrgiakos, Kjaer, Rodriguez – Trasch, Polak – Vierinha, Orozco – Olic, Dost
Fortuna Dusseldorf
Fortuna is a series of three matches without a win but during this period had been guests in Gelsenkirchen and Munich, and it was hard to expect anything more than a defeats against Schalke and Bayern. In both visits have displayed an excellent resistance to the favoured opponents and it needed a little to win at least one point. In Gelsenkirchen had a draw in their hands nine minutes before the end, and in the last round in Munich had lead twice but received the third goal just four minutes before the end. Between these two matches they played 1-1 at home against Mainz and are now in an unpleasant position, just above the relegation zone. Fortunately, they have seven points more than Augsburg so there’s no reason to panic, but it would be very good if they win a point in Wolfsburg. Statistics says that is going to be a tough task, because won very few points away this season and achieve exactly one goal on average. The coach Meier has recently changed a very little in the team and only in the forward line, and now the same team as in Munich should start the game.
Probable lineups Fortuna Dusseldorf: Giefer – Balogun, Latka, Malezas, J.van den Bergh – Bodzek, Tesche – Lambertz, Belinghausen, Bolly – Kruse
VfL Wolfsburg – Fortuna Dusseldorf
It seems that Wolfsburg has an upper hand here and should win, however, they have lot of problems with absenteeism and this could cause a major headache. Fortuna was close to draw in the two previous away games and here will play on zero, so we don’t expect too many goals.
