 Moyes has the huge task of following on from the remarkable achievements of Sir Alex Ferguson, with the first challenge of his maiden pre-season at the club already overshadowed by conjecture over Wayne Rooney's future at Old Trafford.

Fiorentina confirm Jovetic sale
serie aFiorentina have confirmed that they have agreed to sell Stevan Jovetic to Manchester City.

The Montenegrin attacker has been linked with a move away from the Stadio Artemio Franchi throughout the close-season following an excellent Serie A campaign last term.

Jovetic, 23, scored 13 goals in 34 appearances for Fiorentina in 2012-13.

He is set to become City's fourth signing of the transfer window, joining Fernandinho, Jesus Navas and Alvaro Negredo after Fiorentina revealed that they had reached an agreement with the Premier League club.

"(Fiorentina has) reached an agreement with Manchester City Football Club for the outright sale of Stevan Jovetic," a post on the club's Twitter account read.

Federer, Haas, Almagro advance in Hamburg
federerRoger Federer safely made it to the quarter-finals of the German Tennis Championships with a straight-sets victory over Jan Hajek.

The number one seed needed just one hour and 11 minutes to complete a 6-4 6-3 triumph at the ATP 500 clay-court event in Hamburg on Thursday.

Federer, who is looking for his fifth title at the tournament, broke the Czech qualifier twice in the first set, and despite losing a service game of his own, comfortably took the opener.

The second was similarly straightforward for the Swiss, breaking once and allowing his opponent no opportunities to return the favour.

Costa Rica boss eager for Honduras clash
concacafCosta Rica manager Jorge Luis Pinto cannot wait for his side's CONCACAF Gold Cup quarter-final against Honduras on Sunday.

Both sides have lost once and won twice in their opening three Gold Cup fixtures, with Costa Rica missing out on a 100 per cent group C record following their defeat against the USA on Tuesday.

However, despite the loss against the Americans following a late Brek Shea goal, Pinto was pleased with his side's efforts.
