Heynckes not harping on tired legs
Bayern Munich head coach Jupp Heynckes is refusing to use fatigue as an excuse ahead of their Bundesliga clash against Schalke on Saturday.
A total of 13 Bayern players were called up to represent their countries in international friendlies in midweek.

But with the Bavarian giants 12 points clear at the top of the league and having just come off a winter break, Heynckes said his players will recover in time for the fixture at the Allianz Arena.

"I think the players will be able to regenerate themselves before Saturday," Heynckes said.

"Because there is a difference in having had a whole bunch of midweek games behind you and now just playing the one. It is only one for some players, of course not for all players. And of course ... Read more »

Lewandowski talk no issue for Klopp
Borussia Dortmund coach Juergen Klopp refused to be drawn on rumours regarding the future of Robert Lewandowski on Thursday.
Lewandowski has been widely linked with a move to Bundesliga rivals Bayern Munich, while Manchester United have also been linked with the striker.

Speaking ahead of his side's clash against Hamburg on Saturday, Klopp said the speculation would not affect Lewandowski.

"I couldn't talk to him this week. I can't say anything new over it," Klopp said about the transfer speculation.

Asked if it would have any effect on the 24-year-old's performances, Klopp said: "No. Not for him and not for me. And for the rest I don't give a shit. So, everything is good."

Italy coach Cesare Prandelli is hoping Stephan El Shaarawy and Mario Balotelli playing together at club level will improve the national side.
Prandelli said Balotelli's move to AC Milan could prove positive for his side, and said the young national team will improve after their 1-1 draw with the Netherlands on Wednesday.

The 55-year-old said he hoped AC Milan coach Massimiliano Allegri would help nurture the pair's partnership.

"I will be relying heavily on Massimiliano Allegri as he works with Mario Balotelli and Stephan El Shaarawy," Prandelli told ANSA.

"The renewal of this team is slow but we will do great things.

Jol targets vulnerable Norwich
Fulham manager Martin Jol believes Saturday's clash against Norwich has come at a good time for his side.
Norwich are without a win in nine English Premier League games – having lost six of those – and host a Fulham outfit also stationed on 28 points.

Jol believes the upcoming meeting at Carrow Road represents an opportunity for Fulham to start climbing the table.

He told reporters: "Norwich had a very good spell after the first seven or eight games. We started very well then they had a very good period where they were awesome.

"Then, of course, they haven't had the best of spells over the last eight, nine games so maybe it's a good time to play them.

"But it is an away game and their home form, ... Read more »

Premier League agrees new financial regulations
The Premier League says its clubs will be punished with a points deduction if they breach new spending controls.
Each team will not be allowed to make a total loss of more than £105m over the next three seasons and must limit their player wage bills from next season.
"If people break the £105m we will look for the top-end ultimate sanction range - a points deduction," said Premier League boss Richard Scudamore.
The rules are designed to improve the financial sustainability of clubs.
Investment in areas such as stadia and academies will be exempt.
The aim is a 'break even' model similar to the Financial Fair Play regulations introduced by Uefa for sides in European competitions. The FFP allows only a £38m (45m euros) loss - significantly ... Read more »
