Sakho admits PSG exit probable
Premier League clubs have been put on alert after Mamadou Sakho suggested that he may be forced to leave Paris Saint-Germain.

The France international was seen as a key man at the Parc des Princes not long ago, having excelled through the club's academy, but since the Ligue 1 outfit's recent spending sprees things are now different.

Carlo Ancelotti has favoured a central defensive pairing of Alex and Thiago Silva, leaving the 22-year-old frustrated with a bit-part role.

The reported Newcastle, Liverpool and long-term Arsenal target has now revealed that he is willing to leave if his position has not changed by the end of the season.

"I will do everything to play at the 2014 World Cup, but I need to be playing we ... Read more »

Asian Cup: Wins for Saudi Arabia, Qatar
Saudi Arabia went top of Group C in their 2015 Asian Cup qualifying campaign with victory over China in Dammam.

The Chinese came into the game without a win in five, while Saudi Arabia had only won one of their past four.

It was the home side who took the lead after 23 minutes, Fahd Al Muwallad latching onto a through ball to slot home.

That sparked China into action and after rattling the crossbar, they levelled things up.

The ball fell to Zhao Xuri on the edge of the penalty area and he restored parity.

Saudi Arabia were back in the lead in the second half, Naif Hazazi vollying home 13 minutes from time.

China could have equalised late on but Waleed Abdullah in ... Read more »

Moura keen to make mark at PSG
Lucas Moura wants to follow in the footsteps of fellow Brazilians Leonardo, Rai and Ronaldinho by making a name for himself at Paris Saint-Germain.

The 20-year-old moved to the French capital from Sao Paulo in the January transfer window, and is desperate to guide the Carlo Ancelotti's to silverware.

"I'm very happy to be here. PSG are a big club and some fantastic Brazilian players have already worn the PSG shirt. I want to leave my mark here like they did," Lucas told beIN Sport.

"I want to win trophies and make the fans happy; they can be sure that when I step out on the pitch I'll try my best to turn on the style and hopefully we'll have a big party together."

Lucas is set to make his Champions League ... Read more »

Toure: City can still win title
Manchester City midfielder Yaya Toure says his side can retain the Premier League title, despite trailing Manchester United by nine points.

The Manchester rivals are yet to lose a game in 2013, but Toure's return from the African Cup of Nations comes as a welcome boost to City fans after they fell further behind in the title race during his time away.

The champions have dropped points against QPR and Liverpool, and although they were unbeaten during Toure's time away, the 29-year-old admitted they will need to work hard if they are to retain their title.

"We are further behind than we'd like, of course, but all we need to do is think about last season to know what is possible," Toure told the club's official website.

Messi extends Barca contract
Lionel Messi has signed a new Barcelona contract, extending his stay at the club until 2018.

The Argentine attacker, who joined the Blaugrana in 2000, originally had a deal which ended in 2016, though an agreement had been struck in December 2012 for the 25-year-old to remain at the La Liga giants.

The Camp Nou star will reportedly earn an annual salary of 11 million euros after taxes, and has a buy-out clause of 250m euros in his new contract.

Messi has become the third Barca star to extend his stay after Carles Puyol and Xavi, although goalkeeper Victor Valdes had turned down talks in January and revealed he wants his current contract to run its course.

The forward has helped his side to three Champions League ... Read more »

Villas-Boas wary of rejuvenated Newcastle
Tottenham manager Andre Villas-Boas is wary of facing a new-look Newcastle on Saturday.

Villas-Boas believes Newcastle’s January recruit drive has made them sterner opposition.

The Magpies recruited Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa, Mathieu Debuchy, Massadio Haidara, Yoan Gouffran and Moussa Sissoko in the winter transfer window and have since beaten Aston Villa and Chelsea.

Coupled with the returns of key players from injury, the Spurs manager anticipates Alan Pardew's men to be inspired to rediscover their form of last season.

"These are players that had an immediate impact in the team, that can make the difference," Villas-Boas told reporters.

"The strikers were caught between the contra ... Read more »

Laudrup: Contract renewal talks not a priority
Swansea City manager Michael Laudrup says penning new terms with the Premier League outfit is not a matter of urgency.
The Dane is enjoying an impressive debut season in south Wales, with the Swans eighth in the table and looking forward to their first final in the Capital One Cup later this month.

Speculation has subsequently linked Laudrup with positions at Chelsea and former club Real Madrid in the summer, but with 18 months left on his current deal the 48-year-old sees no need to renegotiate his contract at the moment.

"I think for me the present is more important than the future, we have so many things coming up now and I already have a contract for next season so it is not urgent for me," he told reporters.

"We have some ... Read more »
