Norwich´s Kamara call bemuses Vermes
Sporting Kansas City manager Peter Vermes admitted he was surprised at Kei Kamara's return to the club.
The striker – who made 11 Premier League appearances for Norwich City on loan, scoring one goal – left England after playing in the club's 2-1 home defeat against Aston Villa on Saturday.
The loan deal did have an option for Norwich to sign the player permanently, but they declined to exercise that clause, allowing the 28-year-old Sierra Leone international to return to his parent club.
Sporting Kansas City top the Eastern Conference of the MLS on goal difference and with Kamara back involved in the squad, Vermes was buoyant about the club's hopes.

Moyes wants more England caps for Jagielka
Everton boss David Moyes has heaped praise on Phil Jagielka and urged England manager Roy Hodgson to pick him more often.
Jagielka has made 30 or more Premier League appearances in five of his six seasons at Everton and his consistency at the back has been a key reason in the club's comparative success.
The 30-year-old defender has made 16 appearances for England but should be a regular according to Moyes, particularly after the retirement of John Terry.
"When you look at the situation with England at the moment, it's there for Jags to go and say 'pick me'," Moyes said.

Liverpool lose Gerrard for the season
Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard will miss the remainder of the season after electing to undergo surgery on a long-standing shoulder injury.
The midfielder has been a virtual ever-present in the 2012-13 Premier League campaign, missing just 22 minutes of action - all after being substituted late into his side's 6-0 win over Newcastle last month.
However, Gerrard has been playing through the pain barrier of late, with the club's official website revealing the injury had "progressively worsened" over time.
Liverpool have just two games remaining in the Premier League this season, with a trip to Fulham on Sunday followed by a clash with QPR at Anfield a week later.

Liverpool must start better
Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher believes it is vital that his team-mates make a better start to their 2013-14 Premier League campaign.
The Merseyside club won just two of their first 11 league fixtures this term, a run which virtually ended their hopes of a top-four finish before the turn of the year.
However, with results having improved since and manager Brendan Rodgers increasingly settled in the dugout, the 35-year-old believes Liverpool can get off on the right foot next time out.
"Looking at the season, if you remember at the start it was difficult because of the transfer window situation," he said.

Serie A : Inter - Lazio
Eighth-placed Inter will hope to leapfrog their seventh-placed opponents Lazio when the sides meet at San Siro on Wednesday.
Just two points separate the teams in the Serie A standings and both remain in the hunt for UEFA Europa League qualification by virtue of their league finish.
However, they also have poor recent form in common ahead of their showdown, with Inter having lost five of their last six and Lazio's 6-0 win over Bologna last time out coming off the back of a six-game winless run.
Andrea Stramaccioni's side also have a lengthy injury list to contend with after Javier Zanetti became the 13th player currently sidelined by rupturing his Achilles tendon.

Serie A: Pescara - Milan
Milan can strengthen their grip on the final UEFA Champions League qualifying spot when they travel to relegated Pescara on Wednesday.
Massimiliano Allegri's men sit third following their 1-0 win over Torino and are four points clear of fourth-placed Fiorentina, who fell to a 1-0 defeat against Roma in their last outing.
Mario Balotelli was the hero for Milan as he netted a late winner in Sunday's victory, and the onus will likely be placed on him and top-scorer Stephen El Shaarawy, who has 16 league goals this term, to deliver against a side that has conceded a mammoth 74 times in a disastrous campaign.
El Shaarawy was on the scoresheet in the reverse fixture as Milan eased to

West Ham want to keep Carroll
West Ham playmaker Joe Cole has revealed the club are keen to secure the services of Liverpool loanee Andy Carroll permanently.
The England international joined the London club on a season-long deal in August and has flourished since overcoming a series of niggling injuries early into his stay.
Cole and his team-mates now hope to see the 24-year-old, who has scored seven goals in his last 14 appearances, retained beyond the end of the season.
"West Ham definitely want to keep Andy Carroll," Cole told talkSPORT.
"I don't know the ins and outs of the deal but the way he's been playing in the last couple of
