Bayern Munich star Franck Ribery was reportedly involved in a fracas with a member of the public at the club's training session on Wednesday.

The man in question is believed to have approached Bayern's training facilities, claiming to be a friend of Ribery, before becoming embroiled in a heated confrontation with the France international when asked why he was there.

Police have confirmed they were called to an incident involving an intruder at the training base, but said the issue was resolved on site.

"We had to attend an incident at Sabener Strasser," police spokeswoman Alexandrea Schmeitz told TZ. 

"Because of a suspect who was located there. We went there, and sorted everything out."

The Borussia Dortmund attacker believes his side has proven its credentials in Europe this season, and insists recent domestic setbacks will not affect the team's performance.

Marco Reus feels Shakhtar Donetsk would have wanted to avoid Borussia Dortmund at this stage of the Champions League.

The Bundesliga champion travels to the Donbass Arena on Wednesday in the last 16 of the competition, and the 23-year-old believes his side's form in this season's tournament will leave its opponents wary.

"Donetsk certainly didn't wish for us to be their next opponent, since we proved we're up to scratch in the Champions League," he told SPORT1.  Former Italy international Alessio Tacchinardi believes only Barcelona is in a better position than Juventus to win the Champions League following the Bianconeri's 3-0 win over Celtic on Tuesday.

Goals from Alessandro Matri, Claudio Marchisio and Mirko Vucinic helped the Serie A champions to victory in the first leg of their round of 16 tie, and Tacchinardi is confident that Juventus can go far in the competition.

"At the moment, Juventus are only inferior to Barcelona in Europe. I don't really believe in Real Madrid's chances as they have shown in La Liga that they're having problems," Tacchinardi told TuttoMercatoWeb.

Donetsk, Feb 13: Shakhtar Donetsk have lacked competitive football since their final UEFA Champions League group stage match but coach Mircea Lucescu is believes is squad are in the right shape to face Borussia Dortmund. Shakhtar were in training camps in Spain and the United Arab Emirates during the Ukranian winter break.

ARSENE WENGER has been backed by anti-doping chiefs in his call for tougher drug testing in football.

World Anti-Doping Agency president John Fahey says football must test more for blood-boosting drug EPO.

And Fahey called on the game to follow sports like cycling by making players have biological passports, which would flag up suspicious changes in body chemistry.

Fahey said: "I saw some examples recently in tennis, where senior players were saying they were not tested terribly regularly. I would say tennis can do more, as can football.

"I simply say this about football — they are not testing enough for EPO. They can do more and we encourage them to do more.
