Mourinho WILL replace Benitez this summer! Former Chelsea boss Gullit claims Roman wants Jose in for next season
Rafa Benitez has been told he is only keeping the managerial hot seat at Chelsea warm for Jose Mourinho, according to Ruud Gullit.

The Dutchman, a former boss at Stamford Bridge, has revealed the current incumbent was told when he took over from Roberto Di Matteo that a top four finish was the very least he had to deliver.

The Spaniard's tenure at Chelsea has been blighted by constant fan protests, despite Benitez guiding them to within sight of second place in the Premier League and into the latter stages of the Europa League.

Keeping the seat warm: Benitez, training today, is to be replaced by Jose Mourinho, according ... Read more »

Ferguson believes struggling QPR waited too long before drafting in Redknapp to save basement boys from the drop
Sir Alex Ferguson fears that QPR may have waited too long to bring in Harry Redknapp to mastermind their battle against relegation.

Redknapp was appointed as successor to Mark Hughes on the eve of QPR's visit to Old Trafford in late November after they had failed to win any of their opening 12 Premier League games.

QPR are still bottom of the table, seven points from safety, going into Saturday's clash with United at Loftus Road, and Ferguson believes they would have been better off acting sooner.

'It might have helped them if he'd gone there a bit earlier,' said the United boss.

'It's not easy down at the bottom of the league and Harry would be the first to admit that. But with his experience and his ability to j ... Read more »

Rafael proud of form
Manchester United defender Rafael believes he is in career-best form, but insists he can still improve.

The Brazilian has been a key member of Sir Alex Ferguson's side this term, making 31 appearances in all competitions, with only Michael Carrick and Patrice Evra featuring more often.

And when asked by MUTV if this is his best season yet at United, the defender said: "I think so. I have played many games very consistently so it is probably my best season here.

"Of course, I think there are some games where I feel I could have done more. I should have done this or should have done that better. I definitely still want to improve."

Despite not playing every match, the defender believes he learns just by wat ... Read more »

Guarin holds no derby fear
Inter Milan midfielder Fredy Guarin insists city rivals AC Milan do not scare him ahead of Sunday's derby.

Massimiliano Allegri's side have recently enjoyed an upturn in form, culminating in their Champions League last-16 victory over Barcelona midweek, while Inter's fortunes, in contrast, have seen them slip out of the top three in Serie A.

The Colombia international issued a rallying cry, telling La Gazzetta dello Sport: "Milan do not scare me. I respect them like every other team.

"I'd sacrifice a lot to beat Milan, but it's not important if me or my strike partners score. I want to help the team and showcase 100 percent of my talent and physical strength.

"They played great against the best team in the worl ... Read more »

Cech: United will win title
Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech believes that only a 'meltdown' can stop Manchester United from winning the title this season.

Sir Alex Ferguson's side are protecting a 12-point advantage over rivals Manchester City, with only 12 games remaining in the season for Roberto Mancini to work his magic, like he did so dramatically last season.

Despite players and backroom staff from both Manchester clubs insisting the title race is still alive, the Czech Republic international believes United are on course to win the English Premier League.

"It would need a meltdown from Manchester United for them not to win the league, it depends on them," Cech told the Daily Mail.

"It is a new situation for Manchester City, tryi ... Read more »

Fabiano: Neymar should join Barcelona
Sao Paulo striker Luis Fabiano says Neymar should move to Barcelona, suggesting he and Lionel Messi would be 'almost unstoppable'.

The Brazilian has long been linked with a move to Europe following his rise to prominence in recent years, with Camp Nou frequently being touted as the likeliest destination for the 21-year-old.

And his countryman – former Sevilla striker Fabiano – is the latest to fuel talk of a dream partnership between the South American duo.

"Messi and Neymar together? Neymar is very good but he needs the experience of playing in Europe," he told Xarxa Radio.

"It is very competitive there, but the two of them would be almost unstoppable.

"Because of Neymar's playing styl ... Read more »

Adebayor keen to finish above Arsenal
Tottenham forward Emmanuel Adebayor is determined to help his team-mates maintain their four-point advantage over rivals Arsenal.

The striker left Arsenal in 2009 for Manchester City, but after failing to make a lasting impression at Etihad Stadium, joined Tottenham last season on loan before completing a permanent deal in the off-season.

Adebayor told The Telegraph: "Everyone knows there's a big rivalry between Arsenal and Spurs.

"When I was at Arsenal, my job was to score goals for them. Now I'm at Tottenham and I have to help the team finish in the top four.

"We have a big chance this season to finish on top of them and we have to take it.

"Last season at the last game of a tough rac ... Read more »
