Di Livio tips Juve for European glory
Former Juventus midfielder Angelo Di Livio believes his old club can go all the way in the Champions League this season.
Di Livio was a member of the last Juve team to win the European Cup in 1996 and he thinks the time has come for them to lift the famous trophy once again.

Having defeated Celtic in round of 16, Juve were drawn against runaway Bundesliga leaders Bayern Munich in the quarter-finals.

"I think the time is ripe to win back the cup with the big ears," Di Livio was quoted as saying by Tuttosport.

"At the beginning of the (Antonio) Conte era there was scepticism, but they have done very well and are now among the favourites.

Lineker: Bale better than Walcott
bale
Former England striker Gary Lineker said Arsenal star Theo Walcott 'is not quite in the same league' as Spurs' top-scorer Gareth Bale.
Lineker went on to suggest Bale has the potential to be one of the best players in the world and that the Welsh player reminds him of Cristiano Ronaldo - in both his game and progression in football.

Lineker told Absolute Radio: "Spurs have got Bale. People talk about Walcott but I don't think they are quite in the same league personally.

"He could be right up there. You know he's starting to remind you a little bit of R ... Read more »

Cazorla: Arsenal momentum building
cazorla
Santi Cazorla insisted Arsenal can push on from their mid-week win over Bayern Munich with all three points against Swansea on Saturday.
The Gunners almost overturned a 3-1 first-leg defeat at the Allianz Arena, only to eventually go out on the away goals rule.

The Swans won 2-0 at the Emirates Stadium earlier in the season thanks to two goals from Michu, but Cazorla is confident the Gunners can grab a win, despite being wary of his compatriot.

"The positive we take out of the game is that we gave a good account of ourselves against one of the favourites for the Champions League, winning at their ... Read more »

Knee surgery sidelines Barca´s Puyol
puyol
Barcelona will have to make do without Carles Puyol for up to seven weeks after the veteran captain underwent knee surgery on Friday.
The centre-back appears certain to miss both of Barcelona's Champions League quarter-final matches with Paris Saint-Germain.

Puyol came on as a substitute during his side's emphatic 4-0 victory against AC Milan on Tuesday, but after complaining of discomfort, Spain coach Vicente Del Bosque decided not to include him in his squad for the 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifiers with France and Finland this month.

It is not the first time stalwart player's right knee ... Read more »

Altintop content with Real Madrid pairing
altintop
Galatasaray midfielder Hamit Altintop says his team must fancy their chances against Real Madrid in the Champions League.
Real defeated Manchester United but it took a controversial sending off of Nani to swing the tie in the La Liga giants' favour.

While Altintop admits Jose Mourinho's men are a quality side, the midfielder is optimistic about the Turkish champions' chances.

"They've eliminated Manchester United. They were a little lucky but in any case nobody can question Real Madrid's ability," the 30-year-old told reporters.

Dortmund wary of Malaga threat
Borussia Dortmund chief executive Hans Joachim Watzke says the club will not take Malaga lightly in their UEFA Champions League quarter-final.
The Bundesliga outfit were unbeaten in the group stage, finishing top of Group D, and secured a convincing 5-2 aggregate win over Shahktar Donetsk to reach the final eight.

But Watzke believes La Liga's Malaga - who beat Porto 2-1 on aggregate in the last-16 - will put up a fight.

"We won the group which was a very tough one," he said. "So there might be some people who think we are favourites.

"But I think there is no such thing in the quarter-finals of the Champions League. Barcelona maybe.

Leonardo denies Rooney bid
leonardo
PSG sporting director Leonardo has denied making any approach for the reportedly unsettled Manchester United forward Wayne Rooney.
The Qatari-backed Ligue 1 giants have become a spending powerhouse in European football in recent years, with the likes of Lucas Moura, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Thiago Silva all making the move to the French capital.

And with rumours rife that Rooney and Sir Alex Ferguson are not seeing eye to eye at Old Trafford, PSG has been mooted as a potential destination for the England international - although Leonardo remained coy on the club's possible attempts to sign Rooney as well as other high-profile stars.
