Premier League preview: QPR v Manchester United

Bottom-placed QPR will be in for a tough time as they host Premier League leaders Manchester United at Loftus Road on Saturday.

Harry Redknapp's side suffered a 4-1 defeat at Swansea in their last league outing - stretching their winless run to five games - as they languish seven points from safety at the foot of the table.

In an illustration of the gulf between the two sides, QPR are currently 48 points behind Manchester United in the league - a points tally that is the same as fourth-placed Tottenham's current haul.

The Red Devils have been in devastating league form over the past three months and have gone unbeaten in 14 games, 12 of them wins, with their last defeat coming in mid-November against Norwich City.

A 2-0 win against recent bogey side Everton extended United's lead at the top to 12 points and proves they are driven to reclaim the league title that was snatched by Manchester City at the end of last season.

The last meeting between the two sides ended in a 3-1 win to United, with goals to Jonny Evans, Darren Fletcher and Javier Hernandez cancelling out Jamie Mackie's surprise opener at Old Trafford.

Redknapp will be boosted by the possible return from injury of exciting winger Junior Hoilett (hamstring) and striker Loic Remy (groin) as he attempts to gel a squad together he believes is capable of avoiding relegation.

Bobby Zamora has returned to the fold in recent weeks and despite being only able to play 45 minutes because of a long-standing hip injury, the 32-year-old striker showed he will be a key part of QPR's survival campaign with a goal off the bench in the loss against Swansea.

United have an injury concern of their own with utility Phil Jones expected to be unavailable after limping off with an ankle injury in Monday's FA Cup game against Reading.

Jones put in a quality performance marking Real Madrid's Cristiano Ronaldo in the Champions League and would have been a candidate to quell the influence of the talented Adel Taarabt.

QPR haven't beaten Manchester United in any competition since New Year's Day in 1992 and it would take a monumental performance to get anything from this game.
