Sao Paulo moved within two points of the summit of the Campeonato Paulista with a thrilling 3-2 win over Ituano on Saturday.
Osvaldo opened the scoring for Sao Paulo on 19 minutes with Jadson providing the assist before Kleiton Domingues levelled the scores with half-an-hour on the clock.
Sao Paulo regained the leader in the 50th minute with Jadson getting himself on the score sheet but the home side could not keep Ituano at bay as Adailton scored with 17 minutes remaining to set up a grandstand finish.
With time winding down, Brazil international Ganso stepped up to score the winner in the 89th minute to hand Ney Franco's side all three points and edge them closer to leaders Ponte Preta, with Sao Paolo having two games in hand.
Elsewhere, Mogi Mirim moved into second place on the table with a 2-1 win over Uniao Barbarense.
First half goals to Wagner and Roni put the away side in a winning position and despite Alex scoring for Uniao with 20 minutes to go Mogi Mirim were able to hold for the important win.
In an enthralling contest at the Estadio Jose Maria de Campos Maia, Mirassol edged out Botafogo 4-3 to move away from the relegation zone in match which saw both sides finish with 10 men.
Camilo put Mirassol ahead after 23 minutes and despite Nunes levelling the scores just after half-time, the home side score three goals in an action packed seven minutes which also included red cards to Mirassol's Walter and Nunes for an incident in the 55th minute.
Goals to Ze Antonio and Paulo Roberto gave Botafogo hope with 20 minutes to go but Mirassol held on for the win which sees them move two points away from the bottom four.
In the day's other games, Guarani withstood a late charge from XV de Piracicaba to win 3-2, a late Lincom goal saw Bragantino beat Sao Caetano 2-1 while Sao Bernardo and Paulista played out a 0-0 draw.
