Swansea coach Michael Laudrup praised Spanish attacker Michu as his brace powered the Welsh club to a 4-1 home win over QPR on Saturday.
After a prolific start to his Premier League career, Michu had gone the past six games without a goal but Laudrup feels the Spaniard provides more to the team that just goals.
"Maybe (the goalless run) was a bigger problem for him than us," Laudrup told Sky Sports.
"For me, who scores is not important, but he had been scoring a lot and then had a run without them, but that happens to everybody.
"He is not even a centre-forward, he is an offensive midfielder who can play there and score goals.
"But he does more than waiting for the ball up front, he works hard for us and he has never been a problem for us, even if he has not been scoring goals.
"When you have players playing all the games there will be moments when they are not 100 per cent. Even when he is not having chances he is working in other areas."
QPR manager Harry Redknapp lambasted his team's defending as Michu's strikes - either side of Angel Rangel and Pablo Hernandez efforts - ended a record of conceding only two goals in their past five matches.
"We made mistakes today. They were blatant, almost schoolboy errors to give the goals away," Redknapp said.
"Swansea are a good side and I love the way they play but I felt they didn't have to work hard for their goals. For the first goal we let Michu run inside and have a shot and when it comes back he has all the time in the world to scoop it back in.
"We get back to 2-1 and I'm thinking we'll get something out of this game and then suddenly we go and give another couple of poor goals away that should never have been conceded.
"Defensively we've been strong lately but today we weren't and it made it difficult."
QPR goalscorer Bobby Zamora pleased Redknapp with his performance but the Rs boss warned they mustn't rely on the striker every week as he has just returned from a three-month injury lay-off.
"(Zamora) is what a Premier League player should be. He holds the ball, doesn't give it away and brings players into play. When he doesn't play we haven't got a focal point to our play.
"Jay Bothroyd has come back from loan and he is the only other one who could do that so maybe he needs to be given a chance."
Both sides face tough encounters next weekend as QPR host league-leaders Manchester United while Swansea travel to Anfield to face Liverpool.
