navas
Spain winger Jesus Navas has defended head coach Vicente del Bosque after his FIFA Coach of the Year award was called into question.
The 62-year-old saw off competition from Pep Guardiola and Jose Mourinho to claim the accolade in January, only for Mourinho to criticise the voting process.

However, the Sevilla man is delighted with the impact Del Bosque has had on the national team.

"Del Bosque has given us all titles and we are very happy," Navas told reporters.

"We have to think about football and what lies ahead. And nothing mo ... Read more »

Mourinho: Ronaldo deserved Ballon d´Or
ronaldo
Real Madrid coach Jose Mourinho believes Cristiano Ronaldo deserved to win the 2012 Ballon d'Or ahead of Lionel Messi.
The Barcelona star picked up the award for the fourth straight year, but the former Inter boss feels that Ronaldo's exploits in La Liga should have seen him pip his rival.

"Cristiano should have won the award to the best player in the world," Mourinho told RTP1.

"He was champion in La Liga, he was decisive in the league with all the records."

Messi broke Gerd Muller's 40-year record of 85 goals for club and coun ... Read more »

Brazil defender David Luiz said the captaincy for his nation's friendly with Italy on Thursday was still up in the air.
It is rumoured the armband will fall either to the Chelsea man or PSG defender Thiago Silva, with Luiz claiming a decision was yet to be made on who would lead Brazil out of the tunnel at the Stade de Geneve.

"I do not know who it will be. I think both have to keep the spirit of leadership within the team. The most important thing is the team and all players have to try their best," Luiz said.
