Julio Cesar rules out AC Milan move
julio cesar
QPR goalkeeper Julio Cesar has rubbished speculation linking him with a move to AC Milan at the end of the season.
The 33-year-old joined the west London club last summer from Rossoneri rivals Inter, but Massimiliano Allegri was hoping to lure the shot-stopper back to San Siro with a two-year contract worth 1.8 million pounds per year.

Cesar has recently won his place back in Luiz Felipe Scolari's Brazil side and was thought to prefer a move back to Italy in light of possible relegation from the Premier League with QPR.

But the player himself insists he is happy in London and will not be retur ... Read more »

Juve must believe, says Pirlo
pirlo
Andrea Pirlo has urged his Juventus team-mates to keep believing in themselves as they prepare for their Champions League clash with Bayern Munich.
The Serie A champions were beaten 2-0 by the German outfit at the Allianz Arena last week, yet Pirlo remains optimistic about his side's chances of making it to the semi-finals of the competition.

"We have to believe in ourselves and be convinced that we can turn things around," the influential midfielder said ahead of the second leg of their quarter-final tie on Wednesday.

"I was there in Istanbul and La Coruna, I learned the hard way that everything's ... Read more »

Johnson hails Rodgers influence
johnson
Glen Johnson feels Liverpool have improved under Brendan Rodgers and insists the club are taking positive steps towards a top-four finish.
Liverpool won the League Cup and reached the FA Cup final under Kenny Dalglish last term, but registered a joint-lowest Premier League finish of eighth.

Under Rodgers, Liverpool have fared worse in cup competitions this season, but the club look on course to finish no lower than seventh in the league.

And Johnson believes such progress towards a return to Champions League contention is promising.

Ancelotti: We must beat Barca
ancelotti
Carlo Ancelotti has played down Lionel Messi's possible absence from Wednesday's Champions League clash at Camp Nou.
The Argentina international did not re-appear for the second half of Tuesday's 2-2 draw in Paris against PSG and it was later revealed the 25-year-old had sustained a hamstring injury.

However, having played no part in Barcelona's victory over Mallorca at the weekend, it remains to be seen if coach Tito Vilanova will include the star in his plans for the visit of the French giants on Wednesday.

And speaking to RMC Sport on Monday, Ancelotti, the PSG coach, said Messi's potential exclusion does not make th ... Read more »

Thiago Silva open to Barca switch
thiago silva
Paris Saint-Germain defender Thiago Silva says he would be open to a move to Barcelona if the Liga giants came knocking again.
Barca reportedly showed an interest in signing the Brazil international last year, but he eventually left AC Milan for PSG instead.

After putting in a commanding display in the Champions League quarter-final first leg between PSG and Barca last week, Silva has again been linked with a move to Camp Nou, with the player himself doing little to dampen the expectation.

"You can never close the door on something, because you don't know what will happen in the future. I am ... Read more »

Mancini: Second place the key now
maqncini
Roberto Mancini has conceded the gap between City and United at the top of the table is insurmountable.
The Manchester City manager added that finishing second is now all that matters.

The Italian watched his side claim a battling 2-1 win over United on Monday, with Sergio Aguero scoring a magnificent solo effort to seal victory at Old Trafford.

United remain 12 points clear at the top, however, and Mancini is adamant that finishing above the likes of Chelsea, Arsenal and Tottenham, rather than pushing Sir Alex Ferguson's side in the title race, is all that matters.

Van Persie earns Fergie´s praise
fetguson
Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson hailed Robin van Persie's 'absolutely fantastic' performance in the 2-1 defeat to rivals City on Monday night.
Despite the striker extending his scoreless streak to 10 games, Ferguson singled out van Persie for his special contribution.

The Netherlands international helped provide the assist for United's equaliser with an in-swinging free-kick although he was once again profligate in front of goal as he failed to find the back of the net over the 90 minutes.

But Ferguson was quick to praise the former Arsenal striker's contribution and is sure that the ... Read more »
