FA Cup: Millwall 0:2 Wigan
Wigan Athletic produced an assured performance at Wembley to reach their first FA Cup final courtesy of a 2-0 semi-final victory on Saturday.
Shaun Maloney gave Wigan a deserved lead mid-way through the first half after sliding in to convert a curling cross from Arouna Kone.

And despite a spirited second-half showing from Championship side Millwall, Callum McManaman doubled their lead to seal the result after 78 minutes.

Andy Keogh got the ball rolling inside the first minute, rising above Antolin Alcaraz to direct a glancing header at Ali Al-Habsi's goal.

McManaman was next to come close as the Wigan forward stung the palms of David Forde from range. ... Read more »

Jol, Lambert content with draw
jol lambert
Fulham manager Martin Jol was a happy man after his side's 1-1 draw at Aston Villa on Saturday.
Charles N'Zogbia put Villa ahead 10 minutes into the second half, but Fulham secured a share of the spoils after a Fabian Delph own goal 10 minutes later.

Jol conceded Villa had been the better side, and was therefore delighted to escape with a point from the match that sees his side reach the 40-point mark.

"I'm pleased because I thought they looked the better team," the Dutchman told Sky Sports.

Klopp delight at ´six of the best´
klopp
Borussia Dortmund coach Jurgen Klopp was full of praise for his side after they humbled Greuther Furth 6-1 in the Bundesliga.
Despite acknowledging that taking on the division's bottom club could have represented a challenge for his charges, Klopp was thrilled with their incisive attacking play which saw them rack up an unassailable lead at half-time.

"It could've been thorny but it wasn't, because from the outset, we were focused on making art," Klopp told a post-match press conference.

"It was an outstanding first half and being strong on the counter and pressing for almost (the entire 45 m ... Read more »

FA vow Millwall bans
millwall
The Football Association has confirmed their intention to ban Millwall fans following violent clashes in Saturday's FA Cup semi-final loss to Wigan.
Frustrations boiled over at Wembley as Millwall's improved second-half display was thwarted by Callum McManaman's goal on the counterattack that sealed a 2-0 win for Wigan.

TV pictures showed fights breaking up between fellow Millwall fans as families and older members of the support attempted to avoid the violence.

The MET police have since confirmed that 10 arrests have been made.

Pep talk not viable, says Heynckes
pep
Jupp Heynckes believes Pep Guardiola would reject the opportunity to help Bayern Munich with their upcoming clash with Barcelona.
The former Barca coach will take the Allianz Arena reins in July after leaving Camp Nou last summer but the 68-year-old feels the Spaniard has too much respect for his old club.

"Pep Guardiola wouldn't do us any favours out of respect for his former club," Heynckes told Sky after the match.

"We have a great scouting department, I have two scouts who make me a detailed work-up of every opponent. Moreover, I know everything about Barca."

Wenger hails Arsenal spirit
wenger, arsenal
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has praised his side's fighting spirit after they came from behind to post a 3-1 win over Norwich on Saturday.
A Michael Turner goal saw Wenger's side trailing heading into the last five minutes of the match at Emirates Stadium, but a controversial penalty to Mikel Arteta levelled proceedings before late goals from Olivier Giroud and Lukas Podolski gave the Gunners all three points.

The win moved Arsenal above Chelsea and Spurs into third place in the Premier League, and Wenger was pleased with the fight shown by his team.

"We really wanted to win this game. In ... Read more »

Premier League: Southampton 1:1 West Ham
premier league
Southampton and West Ham shared the points at St Mary's on Saturday with both clubs edging closer to Premier League safety.
The first half produced little action as both sides struggled to create and clear-cut chances - Nolan and Lambert going closest for each side respectively.

Gaston Ramirez put the hosts ahead just before the hour mark but Andy Carroll was on hand to equalise with a free kick minutes later in a result that leaves the Saints and the Hammers still not quite safe.

James Tomkins slid in with a perfectly timed tackle to block an early effort from Lallana as the hosts started brightly - but Saints' midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin then picked up a needless boo ... Read more »
