Premier League: Tottenham 3:1 Manchester City

premier leagueThree second-half goals in the space of six minutes saw Tottenham to a come-from-behind 3-1 win over Manchester City on Sunday.
Samir Nasri opened the scoring with a mere four minutes gone at White Hart Lane, tapping home James Milner's cross to give the visitors the lead.

Despite appearing to be in control, City allowed Clint Dempsey to tap home Gareth Bale's cross with 15 minutes remaining, before Jermain Defoe and Bale scored in quick succession to give Spurs a vital win.

In a frantic opening, it did not take long for City to open their account as brilliant build-up play from Carlos Tevez allowed Milner to cut the ball back to Nasri, the Frenchman turning the ball home adeptly on the volley for a 1-0 lead.

The goalscorer was at the centre of controversy just minutes later as Nasri went in high on Kyle Walker. Despite calls for a red, referee Lee Mason deemed the challenge unworthy of even a foul.

Walker then spurned what eventually turned out to be Tottenham's only real chance of the half as, after Dempsey put him in on goal, the right-back squandered a chance to level the scoring as Joe Hart smothered his effort adeptly.

Following that missed opportunity, City quickly took the initiative and almost doubled their lead before the break, as Nasri and Edin Dzeko both went close.

It took almost 20 minutes for the second half to spark into life as Tottenham started to pile on the pressure and it was not long before the hosts capitalised.

It was Bale who created the goal as the Welshman drove the ball to the back post with the outside of his left foot, finding Dempsey who duly tapped home to put Spurs level.

Tottenham's momentum continued and it was mere minutes before the home side claimed the lead, courtesy of substitute Defoe. After the striker received the ball on the left from Lewis Holtby, he ran at Vincent Kompany, cutting inside before lashing an unstoppable effort past Hart into the far corner.

The comeback was capped just a few minutes later. Following a strong run and pass from Tom Huddlestone, the midfielder played in Bale who, through on goal, delightfully dinked over Hart to put Spurs 3-1 up and out of sight.
