Dortmund wary of Malaga threat

Borussia Dortmund chief executive Hans Joachim Watzke says the club will not take Malaga lightly in their UEFA Champions League quarter-final.
The Bundesliga outfit were unbeaten in the group stage, finishing top of Group D, and secured a convincing 5-2 aggregate win over Shahktar Donetsk to reach the final eight.

But Watzke believes La Liga's Malaga - who beat Porto 2-1 on aggregate in the last-16 - will put up a fight.

"We won the group which was a very tough one," he said. "So there might be some people who think we are favourites.

"But I think there is no such thing in the quarter-finals of the Champions League. Barcelona maybe.

"We take it like it is and it will be a difficult task. I saw Malaga against Porto on television and they are a very good team.

"They (Malaga) are a pretty organised team. They are dangerous in standard situations. The second goal against Porto was scored like that and the team who eliminates Porto is a strong team."

Turkish midfielder Nuri Sahin echoed the statements of Watzke following the draw on Friday.

The 24-year-old, who is on loan at Dortmund from Real Madrid, says that although he thought Porto may progress against Malaga, he knows all about the qualities of Manuel Pellegrini's men from his time in Spanish football.

"We were worried about Porto but they were knocked out by Malaga," Sahin told reporters.

"I know them from my days at Real Madrid. They played very well against us when I was in Spain. We should definitely not underestimate Malaga."

The first leg will take place at La Rosaleda on April 3, with the return leg at Signal Iduna Park on April 9.
