Moses hails dream year

Victor Moses has described his 2012-13 campaign as a 'dream' in the wake of his victorious return from the Africa Cup of Nations with Nigeria.

The 22-year-old began the season at previous club Wigan but before the end of the transfer window, switched to European champions Chelsea where he has caught the eye, scoring five goals in his debut year at the club.

The former Crystal Palace man has also now tasted international success after starring at Nigeria's Africa Cup of Nations triumph in South Africa, where he scored twice and was acclaimed as one of the players of the tournament.

"If anybody had told me that I would be playing for Chelsea and winning the Nations Cup by the beginning of this year, I would not have believed it," Moses told the official FIFA website.

"It is like a dream. But it has taken a lot of hard work and I have been working hard week in and week out, and at the end of the day everything came out for me in a positive way."

Moses had previously represented England at all youth levels but instead chose to represent the country of his birth, a decision he says has been thoroughly vindicated by Nigeria's glory in South Africa.

"I played for England Under-16s, 17s, 18s, 19s, 20s and then 21s ... then ... I just decided to make the decision to play for Nigeria," he said.

"It is an amazing feeling. It is good to win the Nations Cup since it had been a long wait. We were very delighted when we won it."

With their maiden Nations Cup victory since 1994, Nigeria have secured their place in the 2013 Confederations Cup in Brazil, where the Super Eagles have been paired with world and European champions Spain, as well as Uruguay and Tahiti.

"It means a lot of me, but not only for me, for the whole nation it means a lot to represent Nigeria in Brazil. We are all looking forward to it. We are delighted to be going there," Moses added.

"I am looking forward to playing against (Spain). It will be wonderful, not just for me, but for the other players as well. That we have the chance to play against some of the greatest players in the world is terrific.

"We are very happy, but the most important thing was to win the Nations Cup. With having actually done that, we are looking forward to Brazil."
